Chalana Perera

Founder of RETRACE Hospitality

Chalana Perera is the founder of Sri Lanka-based RETRACE™ Hospitality, an advisory service that supports investors, developers, operators, and government agencies on regenerative tourism and hospitality strategies. His work prioritises destination stewardship centered around native biodiversity and local communities. His recent work include master planning for a 6,500-acre conservation-based hospitality project in Sri Lanka's central highlands, crafting a purpose-strategy for a legacy hospitality brand, developing a regenerative wellness resort, and designing South Asia's first fossil-fuel-free tour operator.

Previously, Chalana worked in Europe with institutional hospitality investors and global brands including citizenM and YAYS. He is a certified Climate Reality Leader, a member of the Hospitality Net World Panel on Sustainability, and an alumnus of Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (Switzerland). Chalana regularly contributes to global hospitality literature, developed Sri Lanka's first sustainable tourism module for the national Hotel School, and has spoken at hospitality and tourism conferences across Asia and Europe.
