Nick Downing

Nick Downing is a seasoned luxury hotelier with more than 30 years of experience across Southeast Asia, Australia, and the Indian Ocean. Recognized for leading iconic luxury properties and delivering exceptional guest experiences, he has built a career spanning independent hotels, branded resorts, and corporate hospitality leadership roles.

Nick is currently General Manager leading the launch of The Langham, Custom House, Bangkok, overseeing the debut of Langham Hospitality Group’s highly anticipated 75-key riverside landmark incorporating the restored historic Custom House on the Chao Phraya River. Prior to this, he served as General Manager of The Siam, Bangkok (2016–2025), where he led the acclaimed urban resort to global recognition, including a place on the World’s 50 Best Hotels list and a Michelin Guide Three-Key distinction.

Earlier in his career, he began his hospitality journey in Australia with Hyatt Hotels, building his foundation across several leading luxury properties including Palazzo Versace and the widely acclaimed Hayman Island. Leaving Australia in the early 2000's, Nick held senior leadership positions with Per Aquum Hotels & Resorts and Minor Hotel Group, directing resort operations and developments across the region, including opening Huvafen Fushi in the Maldives and assisting to reposition W Retreat Koh Samui.
