Julie Ockerby is the Founder & Creative Partner of The Boutique Assembly, a platform created to bring together the people shaping the future of boutique and independent hospitality across Asia Pacific.

An internationally recognised hotel designer, entrepreneur and business leader, Julie has spent more than two decades working across hospitality, design and commercial strategy. She has partnered with leading hotel owners, operators and developers to create destinations that deliver memorable guest experiences, strong commercial outcomes and enduring value.

As Director – Design Strategy at WMK Architecture, Julie leads the firm's hotel sector, working with clients across Australia and internationally on hotels, resorts and mixed-use developments. Her expertise spans design strategy, brand positioning, market insight and guest experience, bringing together commercial thinking and design excellence to create places people genuinely want to stay.

Prior to joining WMK, Julie founded and led the award-winning Meli Studio Australia before its successful merger with the practice. Throughout her career she has been recognised internationally for her contribution to hospitality design, innovation and business leadership.

Through The Boutique Assembly, Julie is creating a forum where the industry's leading owners, developers, operators, designers and innovators come together to share ideas, challenge convention and explore what is next for independent hospitality.
